Ladysmith Black Mambazo marked 11 February with a commemoration of the life and enduring legacy of its founder, Joseph Bhekizizwe Shabalala. His visionary leadership established the group as one of South Africa’s most revered and internationally celebrated musical institutions, carrying the sound and spirit of isicathamiya to global audiences while preserving its cultural authenticity.

Building on this legacy, the group released its latest album, One Voice One World, on 13 March 2026. Rooted in themes of unity, heritage and shared musical expression, the project brings together a rich tapestry of voices, including acclaimed collaborators Nduduzo Makhathini and Mbuso Khoza.

The album has already made a significant impact. At the Metro FM Music Awards 2026 on 25 April, Ladysmith Black Mambazo secured three major accolades: the Global Icon AwardBest African Pop and Best Collaboration for their work with Nduduzo Makhathini and Mbuso Khoza, recognition that underscores both the group’s enduring legacy and the contemporary relevance of their latest body of work.

The award-winning collaboration featured on One Voice One World continues to resonate widely, further amplifying the group’s reach across diverse audiences. The album stands as a testament to Ladysmith Black Mambazo’s ongoing commitment to collaboration, cultural dialogue and artistic excellence.
